My son has a history of blowing out the seat of his pants. Normally the seam will just come apart and it is a simple enough fix. Sometimes it is the knees. In that case I keep the pants and as soon as the weather is warm enough I chop off the legs and voila! We have shorts.
Lately though the last few pairs have been more challenging. He was out playing lazer tag and came home with his sweater tied around his waist. I did my best to repair them. Note picture above. Would you believe he refused to wear them? All that work.
I have even taken jeans beyond repair and made bags for make up or clothes pins. Sometimes there is only so much one mother can do with so much leftover ruined denim.
So then I found this. http://www.cottonfrombluetogreen.org/Mail-in-Program/
You can mail in old denim and have it recycled into insulation. Yea! Now only to find something to do with all the worn out socks and undies.
